Applied Game Design (AGD) focuses on building entirely new experiences by combining the subject matter with game design. New products derived from this combination will engage users on a deeper level and deliver the intent of the creation through an immersive experience.
By applying Gamification, users can be better engaged and retained via extrinsic motivators brought on by the additional game elements such as rewards, leaderboards and progression trackers. Gamification is useful to drive short-term goals and make an existing experience easier to complete.
